What causes it?
Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium Punctatum) is responsible for approximately 75% of damage to timber within buildings in the UK.Other types of wood boring insects commonly found are Wood Boring Weevil (Pentarthrum Huttoni) which attacks damp or decaying timbers, and Bark Borer (Ernobius Mollis) which only attacks the bark or "waney edge" and the layer of timber directly below. Removal of the bark is all that is required to eradicate this attack.
Woodworm How do we treat it?
In most cases, spray treatment of the affected timber is all that is required to eradicate such infestations. However, if the attack is intense or heavy, it would be necessary to replace the affected timber. This is particularly common in floorboards.

Damp proofing What causes it?
Rising damp occurs when the foundations of building draws moisture up from the surrounding ground by capillary action.
How do we treat it?
This can be successfully treated by different methods of damp proofing. Either by chemically injecting a damp proof course or by electro osmosis method. It is often necessary to strip affected plaster from walls to be treated as this is contaminated with ground salts or hygroscopic salts, which would continue to attract moisture. Plaster membranes are also fitted to affected areas to help the drying out process for redecoration purposes.
General extensions and renovations are also undertaken and project managed by co-ordinating an all trades team of contractors to achieve a high standard of finished product.
