The new Barratt and David Wilson Homes Office recently opened on Solihull business park, nearly doubling it’s office space compared to its previous office at Meriden Business Park. This move has created 20 new jobs. The Barratt and David Wilson division already employs 70 people at its head office and up to 600 builders and sub-contractors across developments.
The company’s Mercia division is on track to build 700 new homes by the end of 2014 across its operation areas covering Staffordshire to Oxfordshire. An increase of 50% when compared to 2010. 17 new homes are currently under development and eight more are due to open this year. The company is currently on target to build over 500 houses and apartments by the end of this calender year said Mercia’s managing director, Andy Peters. He added that it will be an exciting time for the company because they are confident of the Midland’s economy.
Group Chairman Bob Lawson added that they were currently in talks with many local authorities to submit tenders for some major regeneration schemes. The company† believes strongly that there is a real opportunity for new developments across the area. Mr Lawson was also impressed with the new design studio that was integrated into the new office and believes it shows the level of detail and care that goes into every stage of house building.
Mercia is the fastest growing company within the group and is leading in many key performance areas. Its parent company Barratt groups recently announced that their half year profits from June 2011 to December 2011 totalled £21.6 million.
