What happens when heaters get old?

Many homes have hot water and heater problems as your heater gets older more problems may occur. This is mainly caused once the minerals and sediment begin to build up in your  tank  which can  possibly cause other problems such as poor efficiency and failure of your heating coils some of these problems maybe more difficult to overcome than others.

Heaters are designed to be used for a long period of time with no problems so it is easy to not realise that your heater is getting old and may need replacing. The way how you can avoid these problems is clearing your water heater of sediment every five to ten months by doing so will remove the sediment which builds up at the bottom of your tank. However the main concern for your heater is when the lining of the heater s walls start to corrode. To overcome this you can clean the heaters anodes but the effectiveness of the anode is limited and decreases over time. The other big problem is a when your heater get damaged or begins to leak. If this does happen you are then out of maintenance then the only option you have is to replace your heater. What you need to ensure that you call a professional Plumber and that your replacement heater is a modern and more efficient model.
