DIY Electrics

So you fancy you hand at changing a fuse or rewiring your light switch? Well you would be surprised at how many of us do. From simply changing a plug to rewiring a house your average Joe at some point will give it a go, sometimes with dangerous consequences.

So what exactly does it take to become a qualified electrician? Well for starters electricians install, maintain and test electrical systems and appliances under stringent safety regulations. An electrician covers a broad number of different jobs and the nature of these jobs largely depends on their specialist training and qualifications.

So what areas of work do electricians operate in? Sound like a simple question? Well you would be surprised. Yes they all do the norm such as rewire houses, test electrical circuits, and carry out inspections for landlords but their duties don’t end there. Their also responsible for IT and data networks, fire safety and CCTV installations, process control systems and building management systems. They will work from technical diagrams and plans to install lighting, sockets, switches and terminals and ensure the strict guide lines are enforced so their customer can be safe in the knowledge that there job has been carried out to the highest standard.

So, still think you want to change that socket in the kitchen? Or rewire that old fuse box? If I was you I would call in the professional.
