Different Types of Showers for your Bathroom

When you are looking to fit a new shower into your bathroom there are now more options on the market than you may be aware of. When either redecorating or refurbishing your bathroom most people are used to seeing the standard power shower in the tub or shower head attachment on the bath taps that can be mounted on the wall, but now there are different showers and shower enclosure styles which can provide different effects for your new bathroom design so I am going to be telling you of just a few which could be suited for yourself.

Walk in showers

If you’re considering installing a walk in shower, there are some great positives, one being that it is the complete opposite of an enclosed shower cubicle. Without any sliding doors, a walk in shower can made to any design you like and in all shapes and sizes so can easily fit into any bathroom design.

When deciding the size of your shower, make sure you know where your toilet, sink, bath if you wish to install one and any bathroom furniture of fixtures such as radiators and heated towel rails will be situated and this should then give you a good idea of the space available for your shower.

When having a walk in shower you must consider what type of flooring you want; a lot of water in a concentrated place can damage many types of flooring or grouting if you uses tiles. One option that is usually recommended for this reason is to use a shower a tray even though this can ruin the effect of a walk in shower, this is the safest option if you are installing a walk in shower to an existing bathroom design. If you are starting your bathroom design from scratch however and are looking for new bathroom flooring, you could speak to a local bathroom fitting expert who could advise about drains that can be fitted directly into the floor.

Steam showers

Steam shower are one of the most, if not the most relaxing types of showers on the market. They are normally found in health clubs, gyms and spas. A steam shower must be inside a sealed enclosure to prevent the escape of moisture which can ruin types of walls like paint, wallpaper and drywall. It is normally a standard shower with a shower head inside next to the steam generator which produces the relaxing and cleansing steam vapour.

When you are looking to install a steam shower, if you have an existing standard enclosed shower, converting it to a steam shower is not too hard because similar materials are used for an enclosed stand up shower making it relatively easy to do. For example, fibreglass, acrylic and tile are materials commonly used used to house steam showers.
